Sad days.

Hello Skinlovers.

These are indeed treacherous times.

When an Orange Buffoon does exactly that which he claimed his predecessor did, and heads of to one of the worst culprits agains human rights, to kowtow to their whims and then some more. But he brought profits to the arms dealers, so that’s okay.
When he is steeped in deceit and lies but no where do the words impeach him appear from his party. Ergo they are guilty and complicit and should be treated as such.

And the ones he is visiting are the ones responsible for most of the terror hitting Europe.
When Manchester is just another in a long line of vctims to fall to the horrors of a coward.
Really you thought you would make a point at an Ariana Grande concert.  When the authorities were well aware of what was going to happen “allegedly”, and when the atrocities just keep on piling higher and higher and the insanity just doesn’t stop.

Manchester….. It’s now that the people crawling out of the woodworks start saying what about (fill in appropriate atrocity here). That’s not the case at hand. Children, and innocents wherever they are and whomever they might be are blameless how dare they target them.

Faith in humanity though is raised slightly. The Mancunians proved they are how I remembered them, a stalewart breed. I am in awae at their response.
I doff my hat.

My heart once again goes out to EVERYONE who has lost someone due to terrorism and cowardice anywhere in the world, but for now, it is mainly with the people who suffered this brutal attack.

until the next one, and believe you me it’s not the end. The arse-wipes will keep at it….

Sad sad days ahead.

Ruminations on the dance (a metaphor of life perhaps?).

Hello Skinlovers.

Back after a long absence, well I have been kind of busy with the boomerangs of life’s foibles.

So I posted a status which reads:

It’s been a while since I ruminated on dance so here goes.
Dancing is a form of soul expression and a language that speaks to the universal spirit. It’s is life, it is spirit, it is sensuality it is fun.
Now Tango, Salsa and many others are latin based sensual dances, in order to express them fully you have to let go of inhibitions, restraint and so many things.
So Bish please, if you are so caught up in what people think of you and how you look then step away from the floor and let the people who feel it do it and show you how.
Note: Very few in this town have it. They might be technically proficient but there dancing has no duende, no spirit, no life, all I see is people moving but no soul. Kind of reflects our society where people are alive no living though.
So the lesson is let go of yourself and let the beat control your body.
Be profoundly uncaring of what society thinks.
Set yourself free (with the caveat that with freedom comes a certain amount of responsibility). “
I see people dancing and counting their steps, and I am not impressed, I see people moving and they do not feel the beat nor the Rhythme (I like spelling it like that mind your own business).
Why do you go to dance. For some dudes it’s their only way of getting in touch with the fairer sex, and to try and get to know girls and that is a commendable thing (and then there’s the darker side of that but that is another conversation for another time). I like that the “stigma” of dance has been abolished and more and more are getting into it, it is also a great leveller no relegated to middle-class and upwards, it is all across the board.
Nothing negative for now, but wait for it I can ruminate on that too.

Contemplating your navel and other ills…….

Hello Skinlovers……

So here we go:

Whine whine whine whine.

Seems that’s all I hear these days.

“I didn’t get (insert whatever), my life is over I’m depressed” What The Absolute Fuck is going on.
Everywhere I turn it’s drama of the insignificant & irrelevant kind. I feel as if I landed in a kindergarten of spoilt entitled creeps.
Listen I am all for the soul-searching but this contemplating your navel and absolute narcissism is insane.

Life will throw a monkey wrench into your works, your plans for life will be derailed (more than once). And that is a promise.

Now for you low-life sludge creatures who dare and sit in judgement about me (and others) and my/our life choices here are a few things you might not know.

Life’s thrown me some curve-balls here are a few of the many:

I was training to sing opera and I had perfect pitch and range, and then I got Bronchial pneumonia and  Bronchial fever which effectively weakened my lungs, was ill for months due to MD’s incompetence and effectively lost lung capacity and damaged my voice. Curveball 1

I was one of the highest paid performance artists in the 80’s. But what you didn’t know was that I used to dance ballet on points, yes I did, was very enthusiastic (will not say great, but okay) and then one night my ankles gave out. There was that part gone. Curveball 2.

I had a patent on an invention for a household item, and was supposed to be heading to Marseille to promote it, while driving down there we crashed I lost two dear friends, I luckily survived no injuries except concussion.
Curveball 3.

There are many more. Losing loved ones to cancer and other diseases and accidents. Losing all your money because of bad judgement and trusting people. Being stabbed in the back more times than you care to count that if I had as many knives sticking out of me as I had been stabbed with I’d look like a porcupine!

I rarely talk about these things, and people think I am cold and maybe I am, but I deal with what life throws me.
I have Glaucoma and I might lose my vision if the medications stop being effective and/or I cannot have an operations,
I am battling that.

Migraines/ Partial headaches that cannot be stopped due to the glaucoma one medication cancels out the other (and please don’t bother giving me advice on medications and how to handle it, just zip it, I am nearly an MD as those who really know me can testify to).

I have been stuck in this place, effectively putting my life on hold and pausing everything, because of familial reasons, and I am not complaining, life here is good no rat-race to speak of.

I don’t want pity, sympathy or understanding, what I am trying to point out here is that life can and is shitty a lot of times. Things will definitely not always go your way, you either crumble under the pressure and/or you rise above it, you want to know how I did it (and no I am not a life-coach, just a pragmatic bitter grumpy old elitist).
I fall flat upon my face more than once. What I do is I pick myself up dust myself off and say “Plot Change” and then do the following (best advice my late mother gave me):

“See the problem, acknowledge the problem, deal with or solve the problem (if possible) and move on. If you have made a mistake own it, and if you have an opinion you have that opinion and belief until a better one comes along, be flexible and not rigid in your thoughts and deeds, see that people are weak and they lie (for whatever reason) and life will be much more easier.”

Life has been good and dammit life has been rough, but to sit there and see all the BULLSHIT spewing from some peoples mouths is just too much, and the drama of it all, SERIOUSLY (yes I also admit everyone hass problems which seem monumental to each individual, but come on give it a rest)………

And to those who will say “let it go” I say Fuck you. No I will not let it go, that’s just condescending and twee. Step away from the fortune cookies bitch! Walk a few centimetres in my seven and half inch heels and let us see how well you do! Just Saying.

Morning ruminations on Influenazas and Gurus. 03 – 02 – 2017.

Greetings Skinlovers!
Grammas back.

Been a while so I thought I’d pop by and say howdy and leave you with a bit of thoughts.

Morning observations:

I do not follow Mac cosmetics middle-east. 😀
Simple reason, that kind of make-up just is not my style.

Also why I do not follow MANY of the regions “Influenzas” (note I said many not all so get out of my facials). My personal preference does not swing that way, my style is european refined not levant insta-disaster (which let us be honest is a lot, again not all, but a lot).
I have seen many of my friends get caught up in that whole messy kind of thing.

admittadly it looks good on camera, but in real life, nope no way. Also I want to see all those godammned influencers make up after 4 hours of dancing, and NO FILTRES (yes I know you guys out there love them filtres), to the point of nonsense.
How dare you claim that your make-up is perfection when you have photoshopped the hell out of it and filtered the life out of existence……

My reasons for distrusting the influenzas and gurus:

Sponsored content.
Shady ethics.
Totally biased and insincere.
And the fact some promote dangerous fads. Really Nair to remove eyebrow hairs. Naughty.

And the list goes on.

Remember in life. Just because someone is certified it does NOT make them qualified, that goes for gurus, influenzas, and personal trainers. Just saying.

It applies to a lot of gurus and as I said Influenzas.

I will not listen to ANYONE waffle on about skincare and how good it is, when they are:

1) Botoxed.

2) FIlled up the wazoo

3) Had ever single damned procedure done to their bodies and face.

Sorry. Your credibility has gone done the drain when you have done stuff like that. Don’t get me wrong I like seeing people take care of themselves, but the state of the ridiculous has taken over, everyone is a clone nowadays, I have seen amazing botox, fillers and such and plastic surgery that blows my mind, conversely I have seen the stuff of nightmares.

How can I take them seriously whenever I look at their perma-frosted faces eyebrows like bats so high they are twins for the Joker (first movie, Jack nicholson). And trout pouts with lips so big they could french kiss a moose (since y’all are C
anada freaks). 😀

Look no filtre!
(If you believe that I have some prime real-estate in the Bermuda Triangle I can sell you for a decent price). 😀

My World-ish.

New Year New observations…..

Hello Skinlovers.

So the new year has rung in and we were once again beset with worries and strife.
Bombings killings and such, mad mad world we live in.

But also the insanity contiues with entitled people asking one for favours and when one takes a little too long to answer because one takes ones time to read scripts and starts to write points, one eventually responds on face book only to find one is blocked.
O well such is life no loss really.
Here’s a hint. If you want me to do your work for you then pay me and you will immediatly gain priority status. But bitch please. Do not assume I will drop everything to work on your project if I am not getting paid, seriously!

On another note.

Here’s how funny things are I have been on a rampage since the fiasco of my 50th birthday celebrations, because I had a migraine caused by none other than being at an event and seeing Fady Kattaya doing absolutely nothing (except droning on in monotone about Yves Saint Laurent beauty products, and his assistant doing the make up application because it seems to his manager that Jordan is not important enough for him to do his magic), yes I am pissed off, I am pissed off that the people bringing him allowed that to happen, and that they were blowing smoke up his wazoo because of who he is, not realising that his disrespect of us was so great that he even didn’t bother to dress up for the occasion, his outfit was something you wouldn’t wear to your grandmother’s thanksgiving, light trousers and a sweater with the statue of liberty’s head on it to a presentation of YSL, really Fady?
No not acceptable on any level. Yet he could dress up for those in Kuwait as they were paying and it was a master-class……..
And then to top it all of P. L. the lebanese make up artist started to defend him by saying he was here as Fady not a YSL represntative and not as YSL ambassador, what a load of codswollop, YSL and the arrangers brought him ergo he is a representative of the brand, while I respect that he was defending his fellow country man, he really should’ve zipped it his bias was showing.
The girls from YSL liban were asking me what I thought and I told themI was pissed off, if it had been a few years ago I would have smacked Fady with a chair upside his head. THe girls proceeded to tell me he had stage fright and was shy and my reply was public speaking lessons and that he shouldn’t be doing what he is doing then.

Do not get me wrong, I am not attacking his talent or capabilities he is one of the most talented fellas we have in the region, I am attacking the fact that he listened to the manager, that gifts center let them get away with it and that the local social media influencers except for one or two were all up his posteriors kissing it. I mean if they were any thing remotely professional they would have seen the glaringly obvious that it was a shambles, within the first 5 minutes he had lost control of the crowd, and to add to that they (the crowd) were rude and were gossiping amongst themselves, that was the level it was at.
Suffice it that my night was ruined one of my friends sitting half a metre away could feel the body temprature from my rage seeping out from me.
Why didn’t I post it before because out of respect to someone, but therein comes the next part.

Last year  I was at an event with the same people (not YSL but GC) and I said to the daughter of the owner I think we (P.L and I ) should take our favourite brands and talk of them and do demonstartions, a few monthes after that while I was giving a talk in the place I repeated it again, and then in Sept or Oct I said it once more. No reaction.
Suddenly I open snapchat and there is P.L. talking about the stuff we had mentioned, so I was like okay so we started, and I send Y. A message saying so I get Guerlain, and she didn’t answer so I said I guess not. Next day I see P. Talking about, guess what? Guerlain.
Of course my knee-jerk reaction was and will always be…….. HELEN KELLER EVERYONES ARSE. So I did.
It’s the classic never share your thoughts or inspiration or even trust people because they will let you down. And most importantly you snooze you lose.

As we say everyone is looking out for number one.
So sad as it may be so must I.

So friendships and acquaintances must be purged from social media if you disrespect me I must be rid of you , yes that even applies to relations, and I am doing so some quickly some slowly.

And that is my new years plans, HELEN KELLER whomever doesn’t toe my party line, because who needs that kind of antagonism.wp-image-2116684210jpg.jpg Bala 7aya Marsa 1501712_489995134451124_2141434234_n

The arrogance of it all. The pitfalls of fame (not me someone else).

Hello Skinlovers….

Grammas back again.

Let’s see what is my news.
O yes, I turned fifty on the 26th of November.
How did it go?
Well, here, let me tell you my tale of drama.

I get a phone calle sometime in October from a reputable company, they say we would like to invite you to a great event we are holding. It is with XXXXXXX from Lebanon (this guy is good an talented and very sweet that is NOT the issue read on and you will see) as most of you know I have an aversion to nearly all things lebanese especially since I do not believe that they a superior to us, damn but they work hard and are masters of promotion of self. So I said to them it is my birthday and yeah, why not it would be fun to see how he works.
The day of the event arrives, I show up and we wait. The set-up was like a school room a very extravagant one but still, row upon row black chairs with a stage and my thought was there is going to be a lot of people here damn! I had a table way at the back. So we were milling around talking and meeting and greeting and schmoozing. The main event arrives, and that’s were things went down hill (again I repeat this is not a reflection upon his skill and talent that is not in question) the dude was wearing a sweater and faded jeans, he looked as if he was going to his grandmother’s for thanksgiving (why am I focusing on this you aske, well, there are certain matters of etiquette to follow in events like these smart casual is de rigeur, but not frat boy college kid style, you wear a nice shirt, dark trousers and such)getting over that shock, we took our seats and the “Grand event” started.
Now is where the disaster struck, the dude didn’t even lift a brush, he was droning on iun a monotone voice about t he products, explaining in a low voice so that no one could hear the look of the season while an assistant did the applying.
I started boiling, literally boiling my friend sitting next to me could feel the anger, one of the mother company’s representative came over and asked me what I thought and this is what I said:
“I have a suggestion, maybe he should invest in some public speaking classes. This is unacceptable we were told that he would be showing us techniques or his style at least, NOTHING was mentioned about his assistant doing all the work”
She replied that his boyfriend/manager had told him not to apply any make-up since it wasn’t a master calss, and he has chronic shyness.
I said: “Well, then. He shouldn’t be doing this”

A friend of mine a make up artist who is lebanese too started to defend him by saying that he wasn’t a brand ambassador, and I looked at him like W T F? It stated it on the press release that this was a YSL event and he was here on their behalf and talking about their products how THE FUCK is he not a brand Ambassador???????????
So I got a migraine and that was my night ruined.
I didn’t go anywhere except home.

Now my points.
The people arranging did the best they could here are the problems.

  • Too many people.
  • You should never be so star-struck that you forget to get in writing a summary of what is going to happen so you can inform people about it.
  • You should not let themanagers rid rough-shod over you.
  • You should be sure the person doing the presentation is capable, no excuses.
  • You are responisble.

These are a few points. I mean seriously he might have thought he was smartly dresse but no, I do not accept that at all you are responsible for giving an appearance. What he was dressed as simply told me this: You guys are so unimportant that I am not even going to bother. And of course another point never let your spouse or your boyfriend be your manager especially if the shit doesn’t understand how these things work, just because you want your nookie while travelling so you bang THAT label on them so you get a ticket for them, sorry very unprofessional.
Where stage-fright is concerned take some damned public speaking lessons, get over it or do NOT under-take such a thing, it is disrespectful to the people who take time out of their schedules to see you. Seriously, I do not care how big a name you are. RESPECT is the key-word.

To the organisers.
They did a bang-up job, arranged it well, there is no fault on their side (except for being star-strruck and letting him and his manager get away with what they did). A bit of advice, always make sure you are armed with an appearance contract and that there are fixed protocols (as there should always be).

It was a terrible let-down, obviously I was the only one who felt like that, but the girls from the brand knew that and agreed, also they were aware of the fault but could do nothing.

I am just so sick of us being treated like we were just an incidental, I asked one of my lebanese friends in lebanon if this was the norm when she saw the picture of how he looked she was disgusted and taken-aback. soit isn’t just me.
Of course the social media cronies were all scrambling to take pictures with him, and kissing his arse. Yours truly is not a crony nor will I kiss anyones arse, I had actually said to one of the girls, that if this had happened a few years back I would’ve been shouting at him and his manager and then smacked them with a stool.
But this I did learn kudos to the lebanese they will stick with each other through thick and thin, the way my friend jumped to his defence was admirable, but bitch please, admit it, it was a shitty thing to happen and not professional at all.

So that was my little observation…….

Until next rant…….
